SCRATCH RACE TUTORIAL

Welcome to my blog. i am going to show you how to make a race between two characters in the program scratch. to get started you must:

1. First you must choose two sprites that you are going to use to race against each other. These sprites must have two costumes. Costume tabs > import

2. Next you need to reduce the size of your sprites go to the blocks palette and then select looks. Then select the set size to 40% block.

3. It is now time to get your sprites moving and changing its costume. Go to the block palette and then select the forever block.

4. Go to the block palette and select motion. Then select move 10 steps and place that inside the yellow forever block change the amount of steps to about 3 steps.

5. Next go to the variables section and select wait 1 sec, you may want to change this to 0.5 seconds to make the characters go faster.

6. Now it’s time to make your character move. Go to the looks pallet and select next costume. Insert that into the scripts section just under wait 1 secs [change the amount of seconds if you want]

7. Now copy those three actions, move, wait and next costume and insert it just below those three in the forever tab.

8. Now change the settings so that your characters are able to bounce of the edge. Go to: motion>if on edge, bounce. Then alter the rotation style for back and forward motion.

9. Next you must randomise the numbers go to numbers>pick random 1-10 and then place it where it says 3 [however many steps you choose] steps.

10. It’s time to draw a finish line. Click new sprite

Draw your line in the editing window

11. Now one sprite must win. Go to the control palette and select forever if

Then select if touching colour [select the colour of your finish line]

Go to the looks palette and pick say “hello!” for 2 secs change hello to “I win”

Go to the control palette and select stop all

CONGRATULATIONS!?
you have now successfully completed this scratch tutorial.
